As a student at Ascension Episcopal School, I’m passionate about many things. I am part of the Cajun Prairie Club, the Young Historians Club, Beta Club, National English Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society. In addition to being on the quiz bowl team, I volunteer often. Last year, after taking the English I rally tests, I placed first in my division and fourth in the entire state of Louisiana. I’m fascinated by world history and have a strong love for writing. I’m an avid photographer who captures the intricacies the world has to offer. Along with this, I’m on the school varsity soccer team. read more

Last Sunday, I helped out my classmate and friend Eric in restoring the Cajun Prairie Garden located on campus. We tore up dirt, removed rocks, and shoveled and spread sand onto the garden in order to promote drainage and sufficient watering. This was all in the effort to prepare the garden for the planting of native prairie plants.

Last week, my Spanish classmates and I went to Blue Apache. There, we ordered our food in Spanish. Some of us had to come up with creative and innovative ways to communicate to the waiter what we wanted. We helped each other by giving each other words to use. The owner of the restaurant also told us that learning Spanish will aid us in finding jobs, jobs that can potentially help others.

In this assignment, I wrote about an article detailing the firing of a coach due to his public praying before a football game. While writing it, I learned about the various perspectives on how we as a society should approach religious expression. I had to cite the article that I referenced and quoted throughout my journal. #citingresources

Yesterday my quiz bowl team went to the LSU campus to participate in a tournament organized by the Louisiana Quiz Bowl Association. While it was a challenge to win some of the rounds, my team triumphed and received third place in the tournament! I’m so proud of my team for persisting and believing in me. #offlinetoonline

Future Plans

While I’m not absolutely sure what I want to do when I graduate, I’d be interested in becoming a doctor or lawyer somewhere down the line.
