Devastating floods in northern Chile have left at least 25 people dead, according to the country's disaster agency, and more than 30,000 people have been affected. The floods, which started on March 25, submerged entire towns and dislodged thousands of tons of dirt. TECHO is working alongside the Chilean government, ONEMI (National Emergency Office) and community leaders in order to mobilize over 1,500 volunteers to build emergency homes with the families. All the funds raised by TECHO-Chile will be used for shipping logistics and volunteer maintenance in the north, as the financing of emergency housing will be funded entirely by the ONEMI.
