Study Abroad in Northern Ireland and Travel the United Kingdom

What I'm Fundraising For

In May, I will be finishing my Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Community Empowerment and Program Development from the University of Georgia! My last two classes will be spent on study abroad trip entitled "UGA- Social Work- Social Issues in Northern Ireland" that focuses on learning about conflict resolution, peacekeeping, and reconciliation. The emphasis will be on learning the historical roots of the three-decade long conflict called the Troubles. My learning objectives on this trip include: To learn and apply new models of conflict resolution & crisis intervention. To develop self-awareness through community participation, learn about service opportunities within a global community with a diverse group of volunteers. To develop an understanding of the impact of economic injustice, oppression and discrimination in Northern Ireland. To reflect critically on the group experience as it relates to personal and professional values & ethical development To reflect on ways this information on conflict can be applied within my own community practice. You can learn more about study abroad programs in Northern Ireland here - https://www.studyabroad101.com/cities/the-united-kingdom/northern-ireland. After the conclusion of my study abroad classes, I plan to stay a few extra days exploring the historical, cultural, and beautiful sites within Scotland, England, and Ireland.

Why This Is Important To Me:

The only thing I am currently worried about is funding this trip in its entirely. Despite saving up funds, I have worked and volunteered my time for the past five years of my education. This is finally my chance to advocate for myself as there is nothing more I would like to do than to be able to enrich not only my education, but my life experience by going on this trip.

How I Will Use The Funds:

Funds raised for this trip will go towards the study abroad trip in addition to the days following. Some of the cost your donation will cover include program fees ($1,500), plane tickets ($1,500), transportation, sleeping arrangements, food- lots of it hopefully, museum and attraction cost, etc. I am aware that I am asking for a lot; however, if there is any possible way you can help, I would be so honored and so appreciative. That being said, I will consider every possible way including any recommendation you might have to pay it forward.

Strategy & Perks

Perks:

By donating to this Mission, you get the perk in knowing that I am enjoying an enriching experiencing in which you are partly responsible. I am also 100% okay with talking your ear off and sharing any bit of information I learned on the experience with you, I can bring back from free pamphlets, and I would be happy to send some pictures.
