Help Me: Raise fund for summer session

Raise fund for summer session

What I'm Fundraising For

I'm fundraising for the summer session tuition at Cal State Fullerton. I'm a full-time student majoring in animation with all studio art classes in this semester. I have no income-source of my own and I am depending on a limited amount of savings for living-cost and college. As a passionate and hard-working person, I strive to challenge myself to work hard and do well at school. By getting fund to take classes at summer, I can finish my undergraduate early and get more time to enhance my art skills for my animation. Although it took me 3 years to complete my IGETC and obtain an Associate's Degree in Animation, I still need about 2 years to complete my undergraduate degree at CSUF due to the school's policy. And since I took one year off to work on an independent short-animation film, I'm worrying about when will my college education be completed. I'm currently 23 years old and I sincerely don't want my education to be a burden and postponement for my career. The advantage of taking summer session is that I get to take my fully attention on courses that are more difficult for me. I still have 4 more G.E. classes I need to get done and I strongly desire to complete them during the break. I would rather spend the same amount of time and effort I use on art project to a few hard classes than cramming everything in 2 semesters per year and not get a decent grade.

Why This Is Important To Me:

When I received my acceptance letter from California State University at Fullerton, I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement to become a college student at such amazing school! I felt that all the hard work and sleepless nights I went through to get admitted have finally paid off. At the beginning, I applied to CSUF because its BFA program in animation was ranked within top 50 in America. But after the semester started, the school have exceeded beyond my expectation! First, I was thrill to learn that the art department teaches traditional hand-drawn animation (cel-animation), which is an animation technique I wanted to learn since I was a child. I've been looking at every school that is still offering education in hand-drawn animation and I felt extremely privileged to get the opportunity to learn it at my school. Secondly, there were numerous clubs that fit my preferences such as the Pencil Mileage Club, which is a club for animators, illustrators, and others interested in visual arts to come together and social-networking. Third, all the professors I met so far are friendly and helpful toward their students. For instance, one of my professors took his own time to talk and counsel a student who was experiencing difficulty handling stress at school. And last but not least, campus-life is VERY convenient for students! There are fast-food restaurants, grocery markets, and supplies stores within walking-distance from the campus! The school also have an APP that allows students to connect with the campus. I chose animation as my area of study because art has been the passageway for expressing my emotions and philosophies. To me, it gives me the opportunity to communicate with the world and to understand more about myself as an individual. Not only does animation makes the drawing come to life, it also speaks out the message the artist wants to convey to the viewer. Growing up as a kid, I love watching Mickey Mouse, Powerpuff Girls, and Japanese anime. I am captivated by how fluent and lively Western animations are done. I always feel entertained and amused by the crazy movements animators did on their characters. What I love about Japanese anime are the visual and story, everything looks as if they were moving illustrations and they usually have an engaging story to be told. I hope that during or after I completed my education at CSUF, I will obtain an internship in animation to build up my production experience and eventually work at children's TV channels such as Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney XD. Now it has been 10-weeks since I transferred from Santa Monica College to Cal State Fullerton as a senior transfer-student. While it was not recommended by my adviser and professor, I'm currently enrolling all of the prerequisite studio art courses that are required for me to declare a BFA major in animation. In addition, I'm participating in 7 diverse clubs and workshops at the school. Although most people will say that I'm cramming my schedule, I take it as "living my life to the fullest". I have a pretty good control in my time management so I was able to contribute in majority of club events and individual contests. I love getting involve with other people and challenging myself! In this semester, I am taking Beginning Drawing, Beginning Painting, 2D-Design, and 3D-Design. And as a full-time student pursuing in animation career, I have been dedicating myself to do at least 6 hours per day on art projects and art competitions. Since I came to America to pursue an education in Animation. My living-cost and tuition has been limited to a certain amount. My family live over-sea and I had to survive in America alone. I have been saving my money for the past 5 years to only use for school and weekly grocery. If I am able to receive tuition funds for the summer session at Cal State Fullerton, I will be able to complete my college education early and pursue my dream in becoming an independent animator.

How I Will Use The Funds:

Once I achieved my goal of $1,587, I will use all of it for the summer tuition. I will only use the money for this summer session. Since I currently am not employee and attending school as a full-time student, my sole income source comes from my over-sea parents in Taiwan. And for the reason that they both are working excessively to help supporting me financially in America, I take a great caution on my daily expenses. I have applied my school's scholarship application but so far they haven't done reviewing my submission yet. I also go on other scholarship websites like Fastweb to try out different scholarship opportunities. The reason why I am using GoEnnounce to fundraise is to assist me pay tuition for school. Just like many college students, I'm struggling to find work to pay the bills and getting scholarships. I would take a part-time job if it is available and relevant to my career path. Until I obtain a job position, I'm using GoEnnounce as a pathway for social networking and scholarship opportunity. I honestly appreciate anyone who would help a diligent college student who's passionate about their area of study like me.

My Strategy To Reach This Goal:

I would be grateful if each person would donate at least $5 for the fund. It would be my greatest honor to receive donation for my tuition.
