Help Me: London Internship

Study Abroad

London Internship

What I'm Fundraising For I'll earn six credits toward my degree while gaining hands on internship experience in the journalism field. This will better prepare me for the workforce after college as well as exemplify my ability to set goals and achieve them. From the KU Office of Study Abroad, "Participation in an international internship allows students to experience the benefits of studying abroad while also gaining real-world professional work experience. Only a small percentage of students study abroad – and even fewer intern abroad - so participation in an internship overseas can give you the professional advantage you need to succeed by giving you in demand global skills."

Why This Is Important To Me:

London is the number one place I've always wanted to go. I've always been fascinated by the history of the city and beautiful architecture, but as I grow I find myself more and more influenced by British popular culture. As an aspiring entertainment journalist, spending time in London will allow me to explore that further. It'll also be an invaluable experience abroad that will allow me to travel outside the United States for the first time and give me a basis to understand cultures outside my own. Actively interning abroad will give me an advantage when I begin applying for job opportunities after graduation.

How I Will Use The Funds:

The program fund for KU is $7,000 + which will cover housing, a food allowance, transportation, basic needs. My mom is gracious enough to pay the other part of this fee plus plane tickets, visa fees and any extra money I need. Your donations will go straight to KU's CAPA internship provider program.
